Lost Treasure Legends: Georgia

Go on a real treasure hunt in Georgia to find lost treasure!!!

The Waterhouse Treasure
The legend goes that a cave was discovered by William Waterhouse in 1890 with a tremendous store of 1,000 gold bars. Supposedly he was to return to get them but never did. The most common consensus is that the cave is located on Rocky Face Mountain a few miles below Keith, Georgia.

Oconee River Treasure
Legend says that at the end of the Civil War, a chest of gold bullion and coins from the Confederate Treasury was buried along the banks of the Oconee River south of Athens, Georgia. The site was marked with an iron chain tied to a tree.
